Jennifer L. Guth

Jennifer Guth is a civil litigator with an emphasis on insurance law and the defence of personal injury, motor vehicle accident, fire loss, property damage, and product liability claims, as well as insurance coverage issues. She has acted as defence counsel in professional liability claims against real estate agents and lawyers.

Jennifer has also litigated personal injury claims for plaintiffs, and handled accident benefits and long-term disability claims. She represents employees with respect to termination of employment and severance issues.

With over 15 years of litigation experience at local and national firms in Ottawa, Jennifer has recently started offering her services as a mediator.

Jennifer was called to the Ontario Bar in February 2002 after receiving her law degree from the University of Ottawa in 2000. She had earned a Psychology degree from Algoma University College in 1997 and a Criminology degree from the University of Ottawa in 1995. In May 2010, Jennifer completed the Alternative Dispute and Conflict Resolution 40-hour certificate program at the Mediation Centre of Southeastern Ontario.

Jennifer is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, Advocates’ Society, Canadian Defence Lawyers, and the County of Carleton Law Association. She is proud to work in a paperless office.

Jennifer’s fees for mediation are the same as for roster mediators:

  • $600 block fee plus HST (minimum) for a 3-hour (half-day) mediation of two parties, including reasonable preparation time, plus reasonable disbursements, if any. For each additional party, add $75 plus HST, to a maximum charge of $825 plus HST for 5 or more parties; and
  • $300 per hour for every hour exceeding the booked mediation time.

Reasonable travel/accommodation expenses will be charged for mediations outside of Eastern Ontario.
